Florence KATZ, mezzo-soprano born in Paris (France), studied Singing and Drama with Régine CRESPIN and Gabriel BACQUIER at the «Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris». She has also been an active participant in Master Classes with Daniel Ferro, Ileana Cotrubas, Suzanne Danco, René Jacobs, Irène Joachim, Lorraine Nubar, Janine Reiss, Gérard Souzay, Rachel Yakar...

 

She is the recipient of many prizes in vocal competitions, including: Prix de Chant et d’Art lyrique of the CNSMP, Prix SACEM and Honegger at the

Concours International des Mélodistes Français, Prix Roussel and FIDOF at

the Concours International de la Plaine-sur-Mer, «Forum de la Mélodie et du Lied» (organised by the Department of Culture), unanimous first Prize at the Concours «Darius MILHAUD», and unanimously Laureate of «Présence de la Musique»-Yehudi MENUHIN’s foundation.

 

She has performed in many prestigious places as Opera singer or Recitalist (with piano or -classical or baroque- instruments) : in Paris (Opera, Salle Pleyel, Salle Cortot, Musée du Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Sorbonne...), in Versailles (Opera du Château, Théatre de la Reine...), in Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, Strasbourg, Genève, Madrid, Munchen, New-York, Kiev....

 

She sang under the musical direction of Manuel Rosenthal, Marc Soustrot, Marc Minkowski, Jonathan Darlington, Christophe Rousset, Emmanuelle Haïm...

 

She has made many recordings for Radio and Television. Her Discography includes Recitals of Melodies, with piano accompaniment (D. Milhaud/ M.Emmanuel/ G.Fauré/ E.Chausson/ G.Sacre)

or instrumental accompaniment (André Jolivet/ Arthur Honegger/ Darius Milhaud), ....

 

She sings with success all kinds of Repertoires from Baroque to Contemporary.

 

She teaches in Paris and gives Masterclasses in France, Italy, Germany or United States.

 

She is the artistic director of the Arts Association "La voix humaine" and of the "Daniel Ferro Vocal Program".
